The Mixed Farming Systems qualification at NQF Level 2 takes the foundational competencies introduced at Level 1 and develops them into a more rounded and capable farming professional — one who understands both crop and livestock production, and how the two interact to create more resilient and productive integrated farming operations. At this level, you take on greater personal responsibility for the quality and consistency of your work.
Learners at NQF Level 2 develop competence in a range of practical farming activities: monitoring animal health and productivity, maintaining irrigation systems, managing soil fertility, implementing basic pest and disease control measures, and contributing to the planning of seasonal farming activities. You will also develop an understanding of farm safety, responsible resource use, and basic record keeping — skills increasingly required even in relatively small farming operations.
